Covid 19 Safety Plan

We understand how important it is to get back to physical sports in the great outdoors for the benefit to our overall physical and mental health and we also understand how important it is to keep you all safe.

We please ask all participants and their supporters to read this document carefully and help us to create a safe environment for everyone by cooperating with the rules and guidelines we have set out.

Our plan is set out to help us reduce:

  • Droplet transmission

  • Fomite transmission: the risk associated with the handling and transfer of equipment during the race.

  • Population

It is noteworthy that the risk of droplet transmission is considered low.

By controlling the flow of participants and maintaining good personal hygiene, the risks of transmission can be kept manageably low.

PPE – Due to the outdoor nature of our event and having vast amounts of space to create large walkways with a one-way system we are confident PPE will not have to be worn. (We advise everyone to bring their own mask and use it if and when you feel the need – Mainly indoors although we will have no indoor temporary structures but if you wish to visit the Powderham Castle farm shop for example you may well need a mask.

Gloves are not recommended and considered unnecessary. “Regularly washing (sanitising) your bare hands offers more protection against catching Covid-19 than wearing rubber gloves.

We will mark queue lines at the exchange area, toilets, and showers and this will be overseen by our Health and safety manager.

Online/Offline Registration - Registration will close 4 weeks prior to the start of Conquer24 at midnight on the 7th May –  STRICTLY NO ENTRIES AFTER THE CLOSING DATE AND NO ENTRIES ON THE DAY We have taken this decision to limit queues at the registration desk and give us more time leading up to the race to focus on delivering a safe and epic event for everyone to enjoy.

Collection of race numbers can be done on the day at the registration desk that will be marked with a 4.5 metre flag in the event HQ.

Pre-race event brief – We will give a pre-pre-event brief on Thursday 3rd June via Live video link on Facebook and will share the video via YouTube and email for everyone to watch and we will go over final briefings on the day at the start line.

Race Start - Mass start will be possible with social distancing. We will ask everyone to please keep a safe distance between themselves and others when lining up for the start, we will have extra wide tracks and marshals to keep an eye on everyone - Anyone breaking the rules or not respecting their fellow runners will be disqualified with no questions asked. We must be mindful of one another and have respect for each other’s health and safety. You might feel invincible, but others might be uncomfortable and concerned of catching the virus for a whole host of reasons so be mindful of how others might feel and please show everyone the same level of respect.

Changeover area – Changeover area will be outdoors. There will be a one way queue management system in place to control the changeover area controlled by our marshals, our race announcer will call out runners that are approaching to help with this (Although it will be impossible to call everyone so please keep an eye out and follow the changeover system that we will have in place.

Finish/ presentation- Please enter and exit the course by using the one-way system that will be clearly marked.

Results will not be known until the last competitor crosses the line.

Prize giving presentation – We ask everyone to please keep 2 metres distance between themselves and others and please stay in your bubbles when waiting for the results/prizes. We will not be showing live results on a screen this year this is to minimise gathering but live results can be viewed via our website on mobile, tablet or laptop devices.
